Stonebridge Housing Action Trust is now closed.
Stonebridge was one of six Housing Action Trust (HATs) set up under the provisions of the Housing Act 1988 to regenerate some of the most disadvantaged local authority estates in England. HATs are non-departmental public bodies, each managed by a board apppointed by the Deputy Prime Minister. The boards included residents, elected as representatives of the estates and members of the local authority.
Stonebridge Housing Action Trust was set up in 1994. Its aim was to transform the 1,775 home Stonebridge Estate by providing innovative solutions to the problems of social and economic deprivation faced by local residents.
Like the other HATs, Stonebridge HAT had a finite lifespan and closed on 27 August 2007, at which point its assets and undertakings passed to English Partnerships, the residuary body for HATs. English Partnerships will ensure that the outstanding work is completed in accordance with agreed programmes.
The Stonebridge HAT website will remain online until July 2008 for reference purposes only, during which time it will not be amended or updated. Please direct any enquiries to English Partnerships.
